I have only seen this show a few times but I really like what I've seen so far. It follows a young documentary filmmaker, Andrew Jenks, as he explores the world of a different person each week. This show spawned from a film he did earlier. When he was 19 he moved into a nursing home to experience what life is like there and what it's like to grow old. The film was very successful and even aired on HBO. From there he decided to tell stories from his own generation and World of Jenks was born.
In the second episode he spent a week with a boy with Autism which I thought was excellent. The filmmaker, Jenks, is kind, compassionate and a really unique individual, and in that short amount of time he was able to build a bond with a 20 year old man living with Autism. The show is funny, touching, and sends a positive message to people about others who are different than them. I think the show gives viewers and opportunity to, at least partially, see how other people live. In the third episode, which I have not watched yet, Jenks spent a week with a young woman who is homeless. In the episode I just watched tonight, he spent a week with a 23 year old woman who is an animal activist. She risks her life by secretly filming illegal activities at some of Florida's slaughterhouses, in an effort to convince the government to take action against animal cruelty. He's also spent time with a rapper, a mixed martial artist, and a variety of other people.
I highly recommend this show- you can watch episodes online:
