Wow, I just started you and already I'm being neglectful. This will be a long post because a lot has happened between then and now.
Last weekend when I didn't have to work was pretty cool. I went out on Friday to see my friends band and it was awesome! I danced around a lot and ran into some old friends. It was so great to see those girls and I hope I see more of them over the summer. I also ran into an old friend of my brothers- random!
On Saturday I didn't go out to the movies like I planned, instead me and the boyfriend watched Charlie Wilson's War at home.

I really liked the movie and I learned a lot by watching it. I was pretty clueless about the role Afghanistan played in the Cold War. The movie takes place in the early 1980's and The Soviet Union has been occupying Afghanistan in an effort to get closer to the world's oil supply and thus control....everything! Congressman Charlie Wilson learns about this and decides the U.S. needs to help Afghanistan fight, but it has to be covertly. If the American military actually got involved then it would no longer be a "cold war". So, we supplied them with high tech weapons and machinery and trained them how to fight so they could defeat The Soviet Union. The U.S. used them to fight against the Soviet Union and then the U.S. made a huge mistake....they left. They left without putting any money back into the reconstruction process of the country. All the buildings and homes and schools and lives that were lost were not compensated in any way. This, of course, caused Afghanistan and other countries to hate the U.S. and what better way to get back at us than to use the weapons and training that we GAVE them, against us. This is what happened and is why we are facing a lot of the problems we are today. Charlie Wilson tried to get our government to provide money and aid for Afghanistan but almost nobody in Washington cared. Colossal mistake and it makes me really angry. Our government had the elitist view that they didn't matter once the job was done- not fucking fair.
On Sunday my boyfriend and I went out to brunch. We went to Alchemy. I had never been there before, but I had heard of it and really wanted to go. It was delicious! My boyfriend got a breakfast burrito and I got the pancake special. The portions were huge and we were so stuffed after eating only half so we took some of it home. On our way back to his apartment my mom called me and told me I had a big package from Central Connecticut State University waiting for me. I applied there for Grad. school to get certified as a teacher and...I got in! However, now I'm having a total anxiety attack about going there...it's a long story which requires it's own post. Basically I'm also looking at this other program which might be better and I'm hoping that I can go there instead but it might be too late to apply and ahhhhh! I just feel crazy about the whole situation. Anyway after that, I went over to a friends house and we made cupcakes! We made the cookies and cream cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World:

You DO NOT have to be vegan to enjoy these cupcakes. You can't even tell they're vegan. But you can tell they're delicious! I love this book. I have made many things from it and they're always awesome and always get devoured by my friends.
I was back at work on Monday. I have two jobs, btw. During the week I work as a paraprofessional at a high school and every other weekend I work as a diet tech in a children's hospital. Last week at work was pretty easy and I got to go on a field trip on Thursday to the Metropolitain Museum of Art. That was a lot of fun but also exhausting. It was a 2 hour bus ride and then we spent 5 hours in the museum. 5 hours in a museum with a bunch of 14-18 year olds is a really. long. time. Then we spent another 2.5 hours on the bus home. There was traffic from a Yankees game that ended around the time we were leaving. But we got to see a lot of stuff and I took some pictures:

Jeff Koons exhibit on the roof- This was really cool. This is a 10 ft. tall statue of a dog balloon animal:

And a graffiti type thing:

Picasso:

Andy Warhol:

Pollock:

It was also my Mom's birthday last Tuesday. Her and my Dad went to NYC to celebrate. They saw a few shows including Wicked! I am so jealous that they saw that. I have been wanting to see it for a while. I read the book and have been waiting for the day when I can afford tickets to see it on Broadway. My mom loved it and her, my aunt and I might go to see it in June if everybody's schedules work out! *fingers are crossed*
Speaking of musicals- on Friday, my Dad and I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar. That was really cool- we decided to go last minute so we didn't have the greatests seats, but it was still good because we could see everything we were just far away. The music from that show is really awesome and I have had the song Jesus Christ Superstar stuck in my head ever since. However, the guy who played Jesus, Ted Kneely, was the original Jesus from the movie version and...you could kinda tell in his voice that he was not a young man. His voice was still good and I enjoyed it, but it just sounded like an older man singing. But hey, they guy is about 57 and he's still up on stage working it as Jesus so that's pretty awesome!
Then I had to work this weekend that just passed. Which means I didn't get to do anything special for my Mom on mother's day. On my way home from work yesterday I bought her some flowers and I'm probably going to take her out to dinner on Thursday.
Today I don't have a lot to do. I want to develop some pictures and I need to do some laundry, and I kinda feel like baking something sweet. It's cold and windy today so I'm not gonna go outside, so hopefully I'll be productive around the house.
