Last Day of Work!

Thursday was my last day of work for the regular school year. I start work again for the summer preschool program on July 2nd, so I have a little down time until then. I'm always a little sad when the school year ends because I will miss a lot of my co-workers and students (although there are some I definitely need a break from).

Overall this year was really great. I loved working with my 1:1. He is so adorable! I also got to work closely with some other people that I haven't had the chance to work with yet and it was really great getting to know them too. I did have some rough times with one teacher that I had to work with and I wish I could say everything is fine now but it's not. It was a struggle every day for me to even be nice to her! It's really difficult to describe if you've never met her but she is definitely one of the strangest people I've ever met. Anyway, that's over now and even if I do have to work with her again next year I'll know what to expect.

The end of the school year really snuck up on me! I remember counting down days 'til winter vacation and then 'til February and April vacation and then BAM! It's OVER! I think because I had so much fun this year the time went by quickly. Other than hating the early wake-up, I never wanted to miss work. I was there almost every day. I wish this job was more of a career because I really love it. I love the schedule, I love the work that I do, I love the people I work with. But there's no money in this. It's a decent hourly rate, but I only work 31.25 hours per week (that's considered full time) and I don't get paid during any of the vacations. If this was a year round 40-45 hour per week job I could make enough to be completely independent (I think). Anyway, that's why I'm back in school, trying to do something else so I can have a real career! But for now I'm happy to be on summer break. I have a busy summer ahead of me, especially during July. Once July is over I can relax and get ready for Germany!

Today really felt like summer. I slept in, made myself some blueberry pancakes and green tea and right now I'm watching the USA play Slovenia in the World Cup....but it's not looking good for the USA! They are down 2-0 at the half. I hope they can pull off at least another draw. If they don't then they might not make it out of the group stage. GO USA!

Thanks jessie! I know I'm biased because she's my niece, but she really is sooo cute! And she's going to stay at my house for 3 days when my brother and Lavina go on vacation, I can't wait!
